Old Dominion University is expanding its nursing program for the first time in more than 30 years to help meet Hampton Roads’ growing demand for healthcare workers. Starting in January 2026, the program will add a spring admission cycle and nearly double enrollment over the next few years. By training and retaining more nurses locally, this expansion strengthens hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities across our community—helping ensure better access to care close to home. Even during challenging times, Hampton Roads continues to come together to support local families. Across our region, churches and community organizations are stepping up by providing regular food pantry and mobile pantry programs. These efforts ensure that neighbors in need have reliable access to meals and resources.

The city has added new resources online to honor Veteran’s Week — including a map of event locations like the Moving Wall, military vehicle displays, and the Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony. All events are free and open to the public, honoring veterans, POWs, and MIAs on the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Read more

The 25th Annual First Tee Tournament brought together the Hampton Roads community to support life-changing programs for kids and teens. The tournament is a critical fundraiser to continue to expand their mission to reach young people with the skills and values they carry far beyond the fairway.
