Celebrating Women in Business
October is National Womenβs Small Business Month, a chance to spotlight the strength and creativity women bring to entrepreneurship. Earlier this year, a powerful photoshoot honored AANHPI women business leaders from Hampton Roads and RVA. The theme, βA Legacy of Leadership and Resilience,β shined through bold colors, fearless patterns, and inspiring voices. Letβs continue to support women entrepreneurs in the community by shopping local, sharing their stories, and celebrating the role they play in shaping our communities with courage and heart.
π Weekend Highlight: Celebrating our hometown legend, Timbaland!

This past weekend, Virginia Beach rolled out the red carpet for Timbaland with a fullβon tribute filled with pride and community spirit. The weekend included the unveiling of βTimbaland Wayβ to honor his roots and legacy. He was presented with the Key to the City and joined a lineup of special eventsβfrom school visits and intimate panel conversations at A.C.E. at the oceanfront, to a high-energy concert at The NorVa. The celebration not only honored Timbalandβs remarkable career as a music producer and songwriter but also spotlighted how his Virginia Beach beginnings helped shape a global sound.

π Halloween Home Haunt Map Alert!
Thanks to Jennifer Harrison, a Hampton Roads local with serious holiday spirit, a community map is helping families find the most decked out houses in the region. She spends hours of her own time and drives around the region to keep the list of spooky, creative displays up to date. So gather your crew, pull up the map, and get ready for a night of scares and shares. π»π·οΈ
π·οΈ Halloween Sips Are Here!

The Halloween feature menu has arrived, and itβs as spooky as it is delicious.
Devilβs Crush β Carolina Reaper-infused vodka with blood orange and a splash of lemon-lime soda.
Zombie β A tropical mix of vodka, pineapple, coconut cream, and lime with a black salt rim.
Corpse Bride Martini β Vodka infused with butterfly pea flower, shaken with lemon, curaΓ§ao, agave, and topped with rose petals.
Stop by the Waterman Spirits tasting room and try all three between now and Halloween.
π» Spooky Season Rules!
In Virginia Beach, trick-or-treating is for kids 12 and under on October 31 from dusk to 8 p.m. Stay safe by traveling in groups, wearing reflective gear, and sticking to sidewalks. Homeowners can join the fun by turning on porch lights, offering packaged treats, and keeping pets secure.
ππ» Tunnel of Terror Comes to Virginia Beach
This Halloween season, Grand Slam Car Wash on Indian River Road is transforming into a βTunnel of Terror.β Drivers can roll through a haunted car-wash tunnel filled with spooky lights, sound effects, and costumed characters β and come out with a clean car at the end. Itβs a family-friendly way to add a little fright (and fun) to your October routine without leaving Virginia Beach.

ποΈ Ernie Els Gives Back in VB
Golf legend Ernie Els, a two-time British Open and U.S. Open champion, visited Princess Anne Country Club this week with his wife, Liezl, to raise money for the Els for Autism Foundation. The event, now in its ninth year, raised an impressive $315,000, bringing the total to more than $2.3 million since 2017. The cause is personal for Els, whose son Ben was diagnosed with autism at age three. Local families like Jennifer and Steve Van Horn, whose son attends the Els Center of Excellence in Florida, helped bring the event to Virginia Beach. Beyond the fundraiser, the weekend also featured a youth golf clinic with First Tee, giving 22 children on the spectrum a safe, judgment-free space to learn and play.

π΄ New Dining Coming to Atlantic Park
Two Washington, D.C. favorites are making their Virginia debut at the new Atlantic Park. Mi Vida, a vibrant Mexican restaurant, and The Grill, an upscale steakhouse, will open by mid-November. Mi Vida (βmy lifeβ) is known for its tacos, creative small plates, and signature margaritas. The Grill will feature steaks, seafood, and a 300-bottle wine list in a sleek, open setting. Together, the restaurants will bring nearly 200 new jobs to Virginia Beach. Knead Hospitality and Design, the group behind both brands, chose VB for its busy tourist scene and the mixed-used environment at Atlantic Park.

π£ Nami Nori Makes Waves at Atlantic Park
Nami Nori, a Japanese sushi spot known for its open-style hand rolls, just opened its fifth location at the Oceanfront on Oct. 11 with Pharrell Williams as a partner. The menu is full of creative rolls and small plates, plus VB exclusives like wagyu sukiyaki temaki, spicy crab dip, and an Orange Crush with a sake twist. I had the chance to try it and loved it, but make a reservation because the space is cozy, with a really cool layout overlooking the new Wave Garden. The sushi is unlike anything else in Virginia Beach, and the shareable small plates are delicious (donβt miss the peppers, theyβre my favorite!).
