IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good Morning Virginia Beach!

This week’s newsletter has a little bit of everything, from a new local project helping lost pets get home faster to a national shoutout for Virginia Beach. We’re also keeping things fun with one of the weirdest rankings of the week.

Let's get into it!

THE WEEKLY SCOOP

Pharrell brought Virginia Beach all the way to Paris for Louis Vuitton's spring 2027 menswear show, and the whole collection was a love letter to where he grew up.

Vogue covered the show and said this on their Instagram post, “Pharrell brought the spirit of Virginia Beach to Paris for Louis Vuitton’s spring 2027 menswear show, staging the collection on a beach-inspired set that celebrated surf culture and his coastal roots. The runway featured wetsuit-inspired designs, reimagined versions of the house’s classic tailoring, and surfboards carried as accessories.“

A New Way To Help Lost Pets Get Home Faster

A new Hampton Roads nonprofit is helping lost pets get home faster, even when shelters and vets are closed.

The Reunite Tonight Project is installing free, 24/7 microchip scanning stations across the region, giving people a way to scan found pets after hours instead of waiting until the next business day. The first two stations are already outside the Chesapeake Humane Society Adoption Center and the Virginia Beach SPCA, with a goal of eventually placing at least one in each of the seven Hampton Roads cities.

The nonprofit is also offering free microchip education courses and covering microchipping costs for participants’ pets. It is a smart, local solution designed to reduce shelter intake, support animal services, and help more pets make it back home safely.

Southern Living Says Virginia Beach Is A Retirement Standout

Virginia Beach just earned a major coastal shoutout from Southern Living.

The magazine named VB one of the best beach towns to retire by the water, placing it at #2 on a list of 20 Southern destinations. While Florida usually dominates retirement conversations, Southern Living called Virginia Beach an often-overlooked option, pointing to our 28 miles of public shoreline along both the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean.

The write-up also highlighted what locals already know: VB is more than just the beach. With parks, gardens, biking and hiking trails, year-round events, festivals, and an exciting food scene, it is the kind of place that keeps people active, connected, and close to the water.

Apparently, Virginia Is Ready For An Alien Invasion

In the most unexpected Virginia ranking of the week, a new “Alien Invasion Survivability Index” claims the Commonwealth is the third-most likely state to survive an extraterrestrial invasion.

Yes, really.

The study comes from casino.ca, and they looked at factors like UFO reports, emergency preparedness, military presence, population density, rugged terrain, roads, forests, lakes, and access to inland water. Virginia landed near the top thanks in part to its emergency preparedness score, military presence, and access to water.

Big Coffee News for VB Coffee Lovers

We posted this on Instagram, and boy, did it go viral.

Big coffee news, VB. Dutch Bros is opening its very first Virginia location right here in Virginia Beach.

The drive-thru shop will land at 796 Lynnhaven Parkway, right by Lynnhaven Mall. No official opening date yet, but the company's targeting Q4 of this year.

If you've never tried it, you're in for a treat. Specialty coffees, smoothies, freezes, teas, energy drinks. Fully customizable, and apparently worth the hype in the other 1,100+ locations across the country.
