This week’s newsletter looks a little different than usual.

Spring is picking up, and so is everything happening around VB. Local businesses are ramping up events for us to get out and enjoy the city, and if you’re anything like me, it’s time to start filling out that calendar and making a game plan for the season.

So we’re shifting things a bit and focusing more on upcoming events to help you plan what’s ahead.

But before we do, there’s just one story that had to have a spot in this week’s newsletter, and you’ll know why once you read it.

From Virginia Beach to the moon. A touching story that has gained international attention.

A crater on the moon was just named after Carroll Taylor Wiseman, a VB native, First Colonial graduate, and pediatric nurse practitioner who spent part of her career caring for children at CHKD.

Her husband, Reid Wiseman, is currently in space leading the Artemis II mission. While orbiting the moon, the crew came across a bright crater and chose to name it “Carroll” in her honor.

What makes this even more meaningful is the moment behind it. As they shared her story, the crew became emotional, reflecting on the impact she had and the life she lived.

Even more incredible, the crater sits in a position where it can actually be seen from Earth during certain parts of the lunar cycle.

A life that made an impact here in Virginia Beach, now forever written into the sky.

15 teams. 60+ surfers. One wave pool showdown.

Back Bay’s Farmhouse is bringing back their annual Strawberry Festival and it’s a full weekend of live music, vendor markets, and family-friendly fun.
