TOGETHER WITH
Good Morning Virginia Beach!
February is Black History Month. Here are 5 facts we found interesting that we didn't already know:
Black History month started just a week back in 1926.
Black History month is observed in the US and Canada.
Ireland and the UK celebrate Black History month in October.
Each year has a theme for the month; 2026's theme is A Century of Black History Commemorations
President Gerald Ford made the month a national holiday in 1976.
As we celebrate history and community this month, here’s what’s new and noteworthy around Virginia Beach. Lets dive in!

Before we get into it, we have to know… how did everyone survive those snow days this week?

❤️ For the Love of Art: Hearts Are Hitting VB Parks This Month
Hosted by the ViBe Creative District, this public art display features graphic-designed heart installations created by local artists and printed right here in the community. The hearts will be installed along the Parks Avenue fence near the corner of 21st Street and the Virginia Beach Convention Center, turning a high-traffic area into an outdoor gallery with a purpose. The event is designed to become an annual fundraiser supporting ViBe’s nonprofit mission to expand public art, murals, and creative programming across Virginia Beach.

🏢 VB’s Registrar’s Office Is Relocating
Virginia Beach’s Voter Registrar’s Office is moving to a brand-new location at 500 Studio Drive, near Mount Trashmore Park — just off Independence Boulevard. The Municipal Center office will close at 5 p.m. on Feb. 18 and reopen at the new site Feb. 23, with temporary closures Feb. 19–20 while staff and equipment transition. During the move, you can still register to vote or update your information online, at a local DMV, or via paper applications available at libraries and other community sites. Operating hours, phone number, and email stay the same, and there’s plenty of parking at the new location. This move aims to make voter services more accessible and organized for our growing city.
