Your Beach Trips Just Got Cheaper, Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach has approved a new program that will give residents a $50 annual parking voucher for use at Oceanfront municipal garages, surface lots, and on-street metered spaces. The voucher will be digital and accessed through a mobile app. After the initial $50 credit is used, residents will have the option to purchase a second $50 voucher for $25 within the same year.

Where it applies: The credits can be used in designated Resort Area parking zones, including the 9th Street, 25th Street and 31st Street garages, the 2nd Street, 4th Street and Rudee Loop lots, and metered spaces from Rudee Loop to 38th Street.
Important dates:
- Early 2026: Resident registration opens
- April 1, 2026: Program expected to launch

This initiative is designed to give locals easier and more affordable access to the Oceanfront while improving turnover and parking availability in high-demand areas.

Free Teletherapy Comes to Virginia Beach Schools

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is launching a new initiative to offer free and unlimited teletherapy to all students in grades 6 through 12. The goal is to expand access to mental health support across the district. In partnership with national provider Uwill, the program allows students to schedule virtual counseling sessions, including same day or recurring appointments, after school, at night, on weekends, and during school breaks. This effort responds to rising rates of anxiety and depression among teens and is funded through a state grant that is designed to make mental health services more accessible.
