THE WEEKLY SCOOP

3,000 Glowing Flowers & Giant Butterflies Take Over Mount Trashmore

Mount Trashmore has a whole new look, and it's worth seeing in person. Where Wonder Grows: Sanctuary is a free, immersive outdoor art experience transforming part of the park into a colorful world of glowing flowers, giant butterflies, and moving sculptures.

Created by Australian art collective Skunk Control, the installation features more than 4,000 individual elements, including:

  • 3,000 illuminated flowers standing 3–5 feet tall

  • 10 giant flowers reaching over 17 feet that open and close

  • 600 butterflies, including some with 4-foot wingspans

  • Glowing plants, moving peacocks, and kinetic birds

The experience changes from day to night, so there's something different to discover after dark.

It's free, with no tickets or reservations required, and runs through December 16. Find it near Shelter 3, with extended hours until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, except Halloween night.
